Proper drying and curing are vital to achieving the long term durability of your floor screed. The drying process varies depending on temperature, humidity and screed type, so it is important to plan your project timeline accordingly.
Liquid screed generally dries faster than traditional sand and cement, often reaching walk on strength within 24 to 48 hours under normal conditions. However, full drying before flooring installation can take several days to weeks, depending on curing time and site ventilation. Sand and cement screed typically requires longer to reach its final moisture level, which is why accurate moisture testing is recommended before laying tiles, vinyl or wooden flooring.
We always advise allowing adequate time for the screed to stabilise to prevent future issues such as cracking or flooring failure. We can also offer guidance on drying schedules, curing methods and compatibility with your chosen floor finish to ensure the best possible result.
